This week we are featuring
Paige Goldade of Sioux Falls Birth Services

How long have you been in business?

2 years!

What is your business all about? (services, products, etc)

I teach Birth Boot Camp childbirth classes. I have 8 different classes varying from 3 hours to 10 sessions. Each class is different but couples can tailor them to their specific needs. My classes prepare couples for the birth they want to remember!

What makes your business unique?

Birth Boot Camp offers modern, up-to-date childbirth education. We are constantly striving to update our materials to the latest evidence based research. Couples leaving my classes will be prepared for any birth experience. I teach the pros and cons to all interventions, preparing couples for any variations that might arise. I have 8 different classes which I offer live or online. This really allows couples to pick and choose classes to serve their specific needs. They are also able to make up two classes at no additional cost online!

What made you start your business?

I had an amazing pregnancy and labor experience after a difficult year of infertility. It was an amazing, empowering experience for my husband and I. I knew I needed to share my knowledge and love with other couples preparing for their births. Far too many women are robbed of great birth experiences just because they don't know their options.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful business owner?

Passion - I believe business owners need to have a passion and love for what they are doing.

Perseverance - They also need perseverance to get through the ups and downs of owning their own business.

Communication - Great communication skills is also a must. Being able to be relatable and approachable really is an important skill to have if you want to grow your business.

What three pieces of advice would you give to someone who wants to launch their own business?

1. Find a need - I suggest starting a business that has a need in your community.

2. Build a community - Build word of mouth, get out there and meet with other business owners and learn how to build your community. Make yourself visible. Do everything you can to get the word out that your are providing your new service. I find that is the best way to get customers. Proving you have a great product through happy customers will grow any business!

3. Never give up - It can be hard with the ups and downs of owning your own business. Surround yourself with positive supports, you may need to lean on them. Ask for advice when needed. Don't give up on a bad day.

Who has been your greatest inspiration? Or what book has inspired you the most? Or what is your favorite book?

My greatest inspiration in business is Donna Ryan. She founded Birth Boot Camp. She is an amazing business owner. She is the hands on, feet on the ground face to the company. She is always available, whether text, phone or email, all hours of the day. She pushes me to persevere and always has a listening ear and open heart.

How do you conquer those moments of doubt that so often stifle or trip up or stop so many?

I go back to the root of why I started this business. I did it because I love it and when I remember that my worries seem to go away. I find that Sioux Falls has an amazing birth community. Everyone here really supports each other and lifts me up.

Please feel free to share any other information that will help your audience get to know you better.

I am married to my high school sweetheart. Together we have two beautiful children. I am a registered nurse at Avera. In love coffee, kombucha, baby giggles, and the smell of freshly mown grass.

Thank you, Paige, for letting us share a bit about you!
