Saturday Spotlight - Katie D.png

WELCOME TO SATURDAY BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT, WHERE WE FEATURE A DIFFERENT BUSINESS EVERY SATURDAY!

This week we are featuring
Kaley Dykstra of KaleyLoveD Photography

How long have you been in business?

4 years

What is your business all about? (services, products, etc)

Birth Photography, wedding photography, and family sessions! I also love to create short films for special projects. My business is all about highlighting love and life.

What makes your business unique?

My business is unique because Birth Photography isn't quite a normal subject of conversation here in Sioux Falls.... Yet!

What made you start your business?

The desire to empower women and families in an intimate moment. I've always wanted to be a photographer but knew I needed to find a unique niche. With the birth of my first baby came the true desire to have these fleeting moments documented.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful business owner?

Motivation, multitasking, ability to communicate well.

What three pieces of advice would you give to someone who wants to launch their own business?

Do it. If you have a heart to fill a need, you're probably the perfect person. There's never a "perfect" time to start, so why not now?

Who has been your greatest inspiration? Or what book has inspired you the most? Or what is your favorite book?

The birth and photography community here in town. After every conversation I'm always excited for what's to come! Or the book has inspired you to the most? Or what is your favorite book? Lysa Terkeurst. Has really inspired me to not be afraid. God gave me a desire to capture images full of power and strength for women. I have nothing to fear as I take steps to fully develop my business.

How do you conquer those moments of doubt that so often stifle or trip up or stop so many?

It's inevitable. It's almost constant and seasons come with different obstacles. If I can get back to my "why" and keep reminding myself that this is a good thing, then I can find the motivation to move forward.

Thank you, Kaley, for letting us share a bit about you!
